Welcome to the homepage for the youth centre of Velky Meder.
We have tried to collect some nice links for you, which will make
it easy for you to surf the Internet. Furthermore you will find a
guestbook, pictures from the youth centre, a full description of
the idea behind this place as well as some practical information.
We hope you will like it!
What can you do in this café? |
The café is made to give the young people in Velky Meder a good
place to meet each other. You can also just come in, if you want
to meet with your friends and have a good time. We have a cozy
corner with sofas, good music, table football and coke machines,
where you can relax and enjoy yourself.
In the café we also have 25 computers, which can be used to surf
the Internet, do your homework or something else. There is always
someone there to help you out, if you don’t know how to use a
computer.
If you are part of a local youth organisation, which needs a
place to have your meetings, we have a special room next to the
café, which your organization can borrow. You can also have a look
around and perhaps consider joining one of the activities going on
with the youth organizations using these rooms.
Everyone from the local area (Velky Meder, Komarno, Dunajska
Streda or any village in this area) between 10 and under 26 years
old can join as a member. You must be a member to use the café,
because we want to make sure it’s a safe place for everyone who
wants to use the place – therefore we need to know the people who
use the place.
To become a member is absolutely free. If you want to use the
Internet we have 25 computers, which you must pay 20 SKK for to
use per hour. It costs 50 SKK to make 75 photocopies or scannings.
We charge a small fee to make sure there will be room for
everyone.
We are open all afternoons and evenings during the week.
Underneath you can see a timetable.
Well, yes – actually you can! Every Saturday afternoon between
12 – 16 you can bring your parents, grandparents or your older
brother/sister and learn about computers and Internet together.
The youth café is financed by local sponsors, two companies
called Dan Slovakia and Nevitel.
We have a group of volunteers who help out in the café for one
or two nights a week. They show the guests how to use a computer,
where to go on the Internet, help out in the bar with checking and
making membership cards, using the stereo or just have a good chat
with someone. If you would like to help out, you can speak to the
project manager about becoming a volunteer.
